Well let’s just keep this simple and sweet. I am Amanda, Ipoh born girl but currently living in KL. 24 this year. I graduated with a Commerce degree from University of Sydney. Atm I’m working for a MNC besides blogging, being a social influencer and a mental health advocate as these are my dreams and passion.

    1. Tell us about yourself.

    2. What is your childhood dream? Did you make it happen?

When I was a kid, I dreamt of being a public figure someday. I used to sing and dance on the bed jumping around till wee hours in the morning. You may think that I’m exaggerating apparently, I was told that, my parents had a rough time putting me to bed every night LOL. And did I make it happen? Well, I hope one day in the future it will happen eventually but in terms of a social influencer, advocate or maybe a writer rather than a singer/dancer.

    3. Describe how you first get into blogging?

I think it started off with me being in an extreme serious addiction in YouTube. It happened when I was in my final year of uni. I was doing Winter School back then and everyone were enjoying a month of their Winter semester break. It was pretty upset that when I scrolled through my instagram feed, people were having fun meanwhile, I was stuck in the library learning Chinese. For your information, I am a Malaysian Chinese but I can’t really speak the language (just in case you guys are curious). Hence, in order to kill time and the boredom which I faced back then, I was hooked into watching videos from YouTube. Please don’t get me wrong that I did not enjoy my life as a student. Is just that human beings need ‘Break 5’ (you know what I mean). Since then, I discovered so much more about the internet world and social medias. Those videos that I watched back then, kept me going and somehow inspired me. To know more details about it kindly check out my blog I seriously do not wish to ramble in here.

    4. Besides blogging, what do you do as passion? Do you have other passion to pursue?

I am a sucker for beauty products from skincare to makeup. You name them! Besides being a beauty enthusiast, I have a strong passion in spreading the awareness of Mental Health. Personally, I feel that mental health is stigmatised and this is something we need to work on it as a wholesome society.

    5. What type of blogger do you want to be? Share your thoughts about it.

Tbh, I have a few categories. To me, it does not matter which niche that one specialises in. Is all about one’s sincerity and commitment etc in conveying something or perhaps, a message to one’s audience and viewers. So no matter what topic you do talk about, it all boils down to are you and your audience happy about your performance/work. Or are they looking forward to hear from you and to read what you have written? I think that’s way more important!!

    6. What does the word success means to you?

I guess the word success is very subjective to everyone. What define success to me is that when I managed to juggle and go through my hard times aka my anxiety issue while fulfilling my current responsibilities be it, as an employee, student, partner, daughter, sister or a friend. Juggling these 2 chucks have already taken up so much of my time and effort fyi.

    7. What is your biggest dream now?

Atm, my dream is to be a successful entrepreneur. Having my own brand lines, books and producing content through uploading videos on YouTube will be effin awesome. Also, I wish to be an influential mental health advocate in spreading the awareness of this taboo issue, breaking the stigma, and eliminating the nasty discrimination in society.

    8. If you are given a million dollars, what would you do with that money?

If I were rewarded with that amount of money, I will form a non for profit organisation that helps young people in identifying and solving their mental health issues. I am aware that mental healthcare in Malaysia can be quite unprofessional due to the Asian culture and also, it is really expensive where only people from better financial background can afford such privilege. Because of this, I wish to propose this benefit to be accessible for everyone from all walks of life. Of course, with the sufficient amount of sponsorships and funds.

    9. Why not share with us your happiest moment in your life & what encouragement would you give to someone who is at their worst time of their life, someone who is facing depression?

so far, I guess my happiest moment in life will be I had went through a few dark moments before and I managed to overcome those struggles. That was seriously a one hell of a ride!! I am happy in the sense that I managed to fight back and conquer on whatever negativity was going through in my head and at the same time, living my life for that moment. My other half and my family have been really supportive and understanding. They were and are still is my pillar of strength also, because I kept pushing myself to persevere. My advice for someone who is facing depression or is at their worst is always remember that you are never alone. Whatever you are facing now is normal and I bet everyone at some point in their lives do feel and think similarly. Therefore, do not blame yourself for being weak and vulnerable. Always remember that you are worth of a living, appreciate life and your loved ones. I am sure they are as disheartened as you, if you keep feeling this way forever.

    10. What is your proudest achievement or accomplishment you have achieved in life?

My proudest achievement that I have achieved in life so far is like what I mentioned in the previous question ie. Juggling my mental health and well-being with all the responsibilities that I have in my cup right now. To some people, this may seem insignificant but to me, I am really proud of myself for what I had went through. To know the details, you may want to speak to me personally or place a request for my upcoming blog post or a short Q&A session via vlogging or a video.

    11. Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and why? Who would you love to collaborate with?

I have a few of them like Zoe Sugg, imjennim, ThatsHeart, Ingrid Nilsen, Wengie, Steph Yu (happyandhealthy96), Meredith Foster etc. The reason for mentioning them is because I feel that they are people with so much positivity in them. They have the vibe and charm which makes me feel so inspired to be myself and confident. If I have given a chance, I would love to collaborate with Zoella. This will be a dream come true to me. I love her since the day I spotted her on YouTube. She is such an amazing person with big heart and true personality. What I adore her the most is that she managed to create her own fame and success despite having anxiety issues. She is my real role model!

    12. What would you say that is the biggest challenge about blogging?

I would say the content. A content creator needs to act fast and be quick in coming up with new ideas. One has to always stay up-to-date with the current and hot topics that society or your target audience is talking about. Also, to me I would also say all the graphic designs, ICT, and technical stuff. I am quite bad in this area. It will be great if I am given an opportunity to learn someday or having an assistant (if I do become famous LOL). However, right now I have superb cameraman who is my lovely boyfriend. Having the sufficient funds/sponsors is also another issue I’m facing as I do not come from an affluent background.

    13. What would you say that is the greatest satisfaction of being blogger?

The greatest satisfaction of being a blogger is when viewers actually like, agree, share and comment on your post. I feel like blogging is more of a 2 way communication. When you communicate something to people and if there is a response, which means you have succeeded in enticing the crowd. Really, is all about the interaction!

    14. How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?

First of all, I have to say the number of viewers dropping by at my blog. When you see the number keeps going up, you just feel so motivated. Alongside, of course the never ending support from my family, friends and others. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Last but not least, thanks to YouTube, my favourite youtubers and bloggers/vloggers. They are my main source of inspiration.

    15. What advice would you give to other aspiring bloggers? those who wants to starts a blogging career? Any general advice to those have big dreams?

Never ever feel that your dreams and aspirations are unimportant and too far-fetched. If one keeps dreaming and acting upon it, it will turn out into a reality. The outcome might not be as significant as you picture but at the end of the day, you will not regret and feeling ashamed of yourself. You will feel so empowered by your own achievement and proud of the journey you have went through which makes you think that you are worth living and everyone should be given a chance.
