Hello, I'm Charmaine Pua, a lifestyle blogger based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I've been blogging at since 2009. That's 8 years ago! From my blog name, you get to know 3 things about me: I'm tall, I'm a Piscean and I'm a girl.

    1. Tell me about yourself.

Hello, I’m Charmaine Pua, a lifestyle blogger based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I’ve been blogging at since 2009. That’s 8 years ago! From my blog name, you get to know 3 things about me: I’m tall, I’m a Piscean and I’m a girl. Talk about being obvious. Hahaha!

    2. What is your childhood dream? Did you make it happen?
When I was in school, my teacher will ask us to list down our top 3 ambitions each year. The only ambition that I wrote again and again each year was “Doctor”. My purpose at that time was to save people’s life. Eventually, I didn’t proceed with it. No regrets though because I found out from dramas that being a doctor isn’t easy because you have to deal a lot with death and you can’t save everyone. That’s so sad!

    3. Describe how you first get into blogging?
I’ve already started to blog ever since there’s Friendster and then moved on to Blogspot for a better platform. Back then, it was all about my personal life; my work, the food I ate, the feelings I felt on the particular day, etc. It’s funny to read back my old posts because they were too short to be considered as a post. But since I was working full time, I don’t have much time to write.

    4. Besides blogging, what do you do as passion? Do you have other passion to pursue?
My biggest passion is actually singing and dancing but since I’ve already past the prime age, I’m just keeping them as a hobby.

    5. What type of blogger do you want to be (describe which field do you specialise in writing)? Share your thoughts about it.
Nowadays, I’m focusing more on travel and food because it resonates with my current lifestyle. Oh wait, who doesn’t love to travel and eat right? 😂 As a lifestyle blogger, I will also cover on beauty, events, shopping, etc because this is what my life is comprised of and I’m very excited to share my experiences with my readers.

    6. What does the word success means to you?
I believe everyone has a different definition of success. For me, success means having a carefree and happy life.

    7. What is your biggest dream now?
My biggest dream is to be able to travel the world and share what I observed with everyone, especially those who haven’t had the chance to visit those places before. You can watch it through my lens.

    8. If you are given a million dollars, what would you do with that money?
I would definitely travel the world and spend some of them to market my blog. Not forgetting to share some of the money with less fortunate people. I always believe that if you give, you will receive more in return.

    9. If you need to choose just one cosmetic product you can’t live without, what item would that be?
I have naturally thin eyebrows, so I can’t live without my eyebrow pencil!

    10. What is your proudest achievement or accomplishment you have achieved in life?
My proudest achievement is to be able to meet Chef Martin Yan few years ago when he came to Malaysia. Before my beloved grandma pass away, I showed her the photo I took with him. She was proud of me too. That’s what really matters.

    11. Can you name some of your favourite bloggers and why? Who would you love to collaborate with?
My favorite blogger is myself! Hahaha it’s because I put a lot of effort in what I do. As I’m a perfectionist, I spend at least 2 days to edit photos, do research, write the post and perfect the SEO. I also admire the Kampungboycitygal couple because they always share useful information on travel and although they’re so popular, they remain humble and friendly to me.

    12. What would you say that is the biggest challenge about blogging?
The biggest challenge about blogging is getting people to notice you. You might have good content but if your SEO is not done properly, people might not discover your blog at all.

    13. What would you say that is the greatest satisfaction of being blogger?
The greatest satisfaction of being a blogger is when I received comments from readers thanking me for sharing them useful and helpful information.

    14. How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?
Aside from sharing with people, I’m also blogging to keep it as journal so I can refer back in the future. Hence, I’m blogging for my own good too! Reading back the comments that I received also helps me to get back on track again.

    15. What advice would you give to other aspiring bloggers? Those who wants to starts a blogging career? And a general advice to those have big dreams?
I might not be the best person to give advice but I’d like to share my experience. Being a blogger is easy but to become a quality blogger is not easy. We need to be able to shoot decent looking photos, have photo editing skills, know what to write and how to express what we want to write in words, knowledge on SEO and social media strategies. If you’re serious on starting a blogging career, focus on quality instead of quantity. Follow your dreams, but make sure you have a backup plan too 😉
    Good luck!
