Jaspreet Kaur- Everything happens for a reason

Jaspreet Kaur- Everything happens for a reason

February 17, 2018

1. Tell us about yourself.

I am Jaspreet Kaur, 25 years old and I’m from Ipoh. I am a senior event manager for a known event company in Kuala Lumpur. I also do freelance modelling and currently I’m working on a show for RTM in which I’m hosting.

2. What is your childhood dream? Did you make it happen? What’s your dream now?

As a child, I was very weird. I used to go to school and tell everyone that one day, I’ll be seen on tv. I used to lock myself in my mother’sroom and use all her heels, makeup, shawls and what not and pretend I was walking on a runway. I used to spend hours day dreaming about how I’ll be a star one day. It has always been a dream since childhood to be a public figure or you can say a celebrity. I wouldn’t say i have achieved my dream but yes I am on the path towards it and the little achievements achieved so far keeps me going. My dream now is to live a life without regrets and that involves taking any risk for it. I don’t want to grow old knowing I did not put in any efforts to achieve my childhood dream.

3. What is your passion? What do you do for a living, is it related to your passion?

My passion is all about the entertainment industry. I am a senior event manager and this gives me the chance to take control of situations and I’d say I am lucky for my event company do organize fashion shows and coordinate advertisements. This does not only give me more chance for involvement but also allows me to take control of it.

4. Share your experience for being the finalist of Miss Universe Malaysia 2017. Given a chance would you participate in any pageant again and why?

Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 journey, i’ve been wanting for someone to ask me this question because there is just so much to share. I first joined a pageant in 2012 when I was only 19 and that’s when i knew I had a lot to improve. I took good 4 years to prepare myself in a lot of ways for a better pageant. I did a lot of modelling and i groomed myself well enough. I was then approached by a pageant critic and he told me how I should be joining MUM17. I knew I was mentally ready for it and that’s when i registered. However, i don’t think things come easy for me because I come from a typical brown family. Not saying that’s a bad thing but there are quite a number of drawbacks to that. My family was totally against my modelling and my involvement in pageants. Girls bring shame to the family if they walk a show in bikini and how the public support is somehow a threat. I remember the fights and the anxiety I had to deal with to decide if I want my family or my passion. My family was not in proper talking terms with me and that was very disturbing which is why I am not satisfied with my performance throughout the whole pageant. I signed a contract and that meant regardless of anything, i had to complete the pageant. What have I gained? I don’t just think but i know that i am a stronger person now. I have learned it the hard way but that is probably why I celebrate every small achievement because i know the hard work it took. It’s not easy to know all the other girls had their families during the gala night except for you. Keeping this aside, I love my family because I would have never been this far without them.

5. What does the word success means to you?

Success means hard work. It means being happy with the effort you have put into achieving something. Sometimes winning is not the ultimate goal but knowing how you have improved and become a better version of yourself, that’s the real success.

6. If you are given a million dollars, what would you do with that money?

A million dollars is a lot. I recently lost my dad and i’ve come to realise that he was the only person I could ask for anything and he would never say no. Right now, it’s all about working hard and buying own stuff. I would use that million dollars to give the orphaned kids a better life. They don’t have anyone to ask for things and if I had that much of money, I would surely want to be that one person to get their wishes fulfilled. I clearly can’t help all of them but making a difference in some of their lives would make me happy.

7. How do you keep up with such a great body? Any tips to your readers/fans?

Blessing from God. As much as I want, I can’t gain weight and this is just me being honest. My tip however would be eat healthy and drink lots of water.

8. What’s your mantra for living?

My mantra for living would be learn from everything. Everything happens for a reason and that’s the God’s way to make you a better and a wiser person.

9. What’s the biggest challenge you’ve encountered in life and did you overcome it?

My biggest challenge would be the journey of MUM17. That was supposed to be when everyone supported me but instead the haters took things to different levels. I had to go through so much of hatred by random people especially of my kind. Fake social media profiles, rumours carried to my family which sparked lots of fights and my private life being intruded. I used to get anxiety attacks. I am so glad i had some really genuine friends who helped me to come out of that and start believing in myself again.

10. If you are given an opportunity to work /collaborate with a celebrity, who would it be and why?

I am a die heart fan of Bollywood. I would literally do anything to work with Deepika Padukone. I totally love her! I love the way she carries out herself. She is one person who does not feel embarrassed to express herself in front of the public. She went through depression and she did not just share it with everyone but she made it a point to educate people about what depression is and how one should not be taking it lightly. She started off with just a music video and today she’s one of the best actresses Bollywood have. She is very inspiring!

11. Do you have a favourite brand you would love work with and why?

Favourite brand, umm I don’t really have one to be honest but I would love to be the face for a makeup brand. Any known makeup brand.

12. What do you do during your free time?

I love reading novels, cooking and meeting friends.

13. If you are given a chance to build a business empire, which industry would you choose?

Entertainment industry! Haha, i guess that’s quite an expected answer.

14. Any funniest thing that you’ve encountered in your life before? Share with us.

There are many but one that my family still talks about is when I was about 6, I wanted to call my dad and ask him to take me out for shopping. I didn’t know his number and my mom told me to press the redial button. She forgot she made a call to someone else before that. So the other person who happened to be a man as well picked up my call and I started asking him to take me out for shopping to buy me a new skirt. He kept me asking me who am I and I was arguing with him thinking my dad is trying to escape the whole shopping by saying he does not have a daughter! Haha.

15. If you have a magic ward, what is the one thing you would ask for and why?

Anything that could make me invisible. Sometimes I just need some time out and not be disturbed by anyone.
