1. Tell us about yourself.

I’m Julia Tan from Puchong, turns 19 this year and currently studying Graphic design. I’m a part time blogger, also a half influencer. I view myself as a optimistic and positive person, I love to challenge myself to do things out of my comfort zone, also trying different styles of myself.

2. What is your childhood dream? Did you make it happen?

I always wish to be a teacher when I was a kid, I think a teacher can influence one’s life, give children a good mindset when they’re still young. And yes, I make it happen as a part time tuition teacher. It was a fun experience, but also unexpectedly uneasy!

3. Describe how you first get into being a social media influencer/blogger? Is being a social media influencer/blogger your full time job?

Years go I started blogging out of passion, but I stopped for a long time because creating content wasn’t easy. But later on I started my graphic design coarse and I think it’ll be beneficial to my future career if I have my own website to show my design and portfolio. Little did I know, my content expand from design to lifestyle and beauty, and I slowly started receiving sponsorship from company to do reviews and invited to events. I love writing and taking photos, designing my own website is also one of my skill, blogging is just a thing for me!

4. What do you do as passion?

Drawing and dancing. Recently, I’m super into makeup and I wanted to try different styles of makeup look, makeup is a way to express myself, not to impress anyone!

5. What type of influencer/blogger you would describe yourself as? Any tips for being a successful influencer?

I would say I’m more of a lifestyle and beauty influencer/blogger, sharing beauty tips and also my favorite products and places. To be very honest, I’m still far to be called a “successful influencer” but I’ll continue to be myself and work hard to create interesting contents. Just be yourself!

6. What does the word success means to you?

For me, success is getting everything you wanted, and not giving up until you achieved your goal. It’s not just about money, it can be reaching your ideal weight, or quitting a smoking life, just anything that makes your soul genuinely happy.

7. What values are most important to you?

Gratitude. When you live your life with a grateful heart, give thanks and appreciate every small things, good things will eventually come to you.

8. If you are given a million dollars, what would you do with that money?

Invest. Have my own shops, clothing line or makeup brand, and also travel around the world!

9. What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought in your life? and why?

I would say it’s my laptop. I’m proud to get it by my own money. As a design student we need a high RAM laptop to run the editing software so I’ve no choice but to buy the higher price one.

10. What is your proudest achievement or accomplishment you have achieved in life?

To buy everything I wanted by my own money. My parents wanted me to be independent and most of my stuffs are bought with my own money. I’m proud because not everyone at my age can do this.

11. Can you name some of your favourite bloggers/ influencers and why? Who would you love to collaborate with?

My favourite blogger is Jessica Chaw, her content was amazing and so inspiring, I was once invited to her birthday party event and she was so friendly and cute! I hope to collaborate with makeup brands so I can make more content for my viewers.

12. What would you say that is the biggest challenge about being a influencer?

When the engagement of my posts drops or just freeze at a point, it feels bad. Putting efforts and money to create content constantly but did not get any results are frustrating.

13. If you are given a chance to invent something, what would it be?

An app or website for the lost and found. People can find their lost items on the app or website or post things that they found. Me myself constantly losing things at the public and I feel loss when there’s no effort I can make to bring back my items, and I need this app, haha!

14. If you have a magic ward, what is the one thing you would ask for and why?

I want to have no period cramps for the rest of my life because it’s my darkest nightmare, ever.

15. What advice would you give to other aspiring influencers? Any general advice to those have big dreams?

Be like someone you admire may be cool, but don’t change yourself or lost your colours just because you wanted to be cool or something. You’ll never know how great is the value to stay true and just be the limited edition of you yourself.
