My name is Marc Soon and I am 25 years old this year. Currently pursuing my study at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). I started my blogging when I was studying for my Diploma at Asia Pasific University (APU).

    1. Tell me about yourself.

My name is Marc Soon and I am 25 years old this year. Currently pursuing my study at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). I started my blogging when I was studying for my Diploma at Asia Pasific University (APU).

    2. What is your childhood dream? Did you make it happen?

Regarding my childhood dream, I would like to follow my parents’ footsteps in business industry and hope to become a successful businessman in the future. However, this dream has changed when I have grown up. I feel that sharing useful information will be beneficial to everyone. The wisdom that we share today will ensure the knowledge of the children of tomorrow.

    3. Describe how you first get into blogging?

Thanks to ‘Janet’ for introducing me APU to continue my study. To be perfectly frank, I’m not from a moneyed family so my family can only afford my essential monthly expenses such as food and water when I was pursuing my study far away from my hometown. At that time, even do I have a girlfriend, definitely I could not take her to a decent meal or watch movies with her because everything is too rich for my blood. This was when I was frustrated of my current situation and I wanted to achieve something big in my life to get out of my poverty, so I began blogging for a desperate change for the better. I strongly believe the philosophy ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained.’  So yeah, this is how I got into blogging. *For the past year in KL, too bad I was still single in the end as well.*

    4. Besides blogging, what do you do as passion? Do you have other passion to pursue?

Besides blogging, I do like hanging out and meeting new people. I feel that there is a lot of awesome people and I would like to build bridges between us. I am always ready to learn new things to make myself a better person.

    5. What type of blogger do you want to be ( describe which field do you specialize in writing)? Share your thoughts about it.

I started my blogging as a food blogger, but there already existed quite a few number of food bloggers, so I have changed course to be more unique than others. That is my blog name called “breakthrough”. Breakthrough means to do something that you never did before.

To set the record straight, I was at my wits’ end when I first started out my blogging because I did not get a lot invitation and my English was horribly bad.

But yeah, time will tell everything. All the efforts and hard work have really paid off.

Example for my horrible English blog post :

    6. What does the word success mean to you?

Success is not about how much money you have nor how ‘powerful’ you are today. As the saying goes, “It is better to be born lucky than rich”. If you are born rich, you may lose your money, but if you are born lucky, you will always get what you need or want just by chance. For me, success is making your parents/ family proud of you because Princess Diana once said: “Family is the most important thing in the world”.

    7. What is your biggest dream now?

My biggest dream is to get an interview on TV show so that I could really share out useful information to more people and all the people who know me will be proud to have me as their friends. I believe sharing my knowledge or message through blogging will be crucial for the next generations to come.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

    -Nelson Mandela

    8. If you are even a million dollars, what would you do with that money?

If I really have that much money, I will make sure my parents enjoy their life to the fullest as they really work hard and raise me up and not to mention they have really invested a lot of money in me last time to continue my study at APU (the fee for university is quite exorbitant for my family).

    9. If you could possess one super-human power, what would it be?

I would like to have a power that will enable me to know more people so that my knowledge can be expanded.

    10. What is your proudest achievement or accomplishment you have achieved in life?

I’m not sure which is the proudest achievement or accomplishment that I have did.

    11. Can you name some of your favorite bloggers and why? Who would you love to collaborate with?

For this question, I would like to recommend:-

Christopher Tock ( ) – Social Media CEO to @datoleechongwei

He really taught me a lot to do better in my profession (blogging). He is someone that will always be guiding me so I could be even better today. I feel that he really treats me like his brother and I hope one day I will become as successful as him.

    Isaac Tan ( )

He is someone that really helps me when I just started blogging. Really appreciate as he keeps bringing me to event so that the client/ pr able to know me as well.

    Kelly Chin ( )

She is one of my #FON Team member. She is someone that will not give up easily and try her best to get what she wants. What really amazes me is she really put effort to finish her ‘Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Full Marathon 2016’ last year with me and also Irfan Chek.

    12. What would you say that is the biggest challenge about blogging?

The biggest challenge for me will be the sacrifice of time and money. Not all events are paid, so sometimes we need to pay for our own transportation to the venue. Because the more events you attend, the more time and energy you need to spend in front of the laptop to share out the information to our audience.

    13. What would you say that is the greatest satisfaction of being blogger?

For this question, I think knowing more people and widening my knowledge in many aspects in life are the biggest indulgence of being blogger.

    14. How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?

As the saying goes ‘Your hard work of today will pay off in the future”. That is whenever I do something, I will make sure I spare no effort in doing it.

What advice would you give to other aspiring bloggers? And any general advice to someone who has  have big dreams?

I personally feel that as blogger should be also credited as a social media influencer, we must always spread out useful information to our audience (non-political / fake news / erotic, sexually arousing photos and other those unrelated) (just to get more audience/ follower). This little step will ensure the future of the children of tomorrow. However, they can only achieve their dreams by their own and if they really want to because “where there’s a will, there’s a way”.

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

    -Chinese Proverb
