Raz Lyana- Just Do it!

March 7, 2018

1. Tell us about yourself.

I’m Raz Lyana, a fashion enthusiast and a fashion Visual Merchandising & Branding student at London College of Fashion.

2. What is your childhood dream? Did you make it happen?

My dream was to always pursue something related to fashion but never knew what exactly in fashion. Today, I’m a fashion student! I made it happen because I came across this short summer course for fashion design at Central Saint Martins. During this time I was stuck doing A-Levels at Taylor’s College. I remember hating going to college because I was very demotivated, I was eager to just pursue fashion right after high school. I begged my parents to send me to that course for my summer break and they agreed. My mum saw how happy I was doing what I loved and finally agreed to send me to fashion school. If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today but of course, I am very thankful to my parents as well for sponsoring me.

3. Describe how you first get into being a social media influencer/blogger? Is being a social media influencer/ bloggeryour full time job?

I wouldn’t say I’m a social media influencer… yet at least. I just post whatever outfits I wear daily and share it on my Instagram! I also own another account @raz.visuals sharing pictures of my work and Visual Merchandising work around London.

Sometimes I intern for jobs relating to fashion. I recently did a fashion styling gig for Q.Label a brand from Qatar for London Modest Fashion Week and a visual merchandising gig for Kohls Kreatives a make up brush brand from London for their pop-up store at Boxpark, Shoreditch.

4. What do you do as passion? Do you have other passion to pursue?

I customised jackets as a hobby for a bit and started selling a few through Instagram. Now, I mostly enjoy going out taking pictures of visual merchandising work around London or wherever I travel to. I have been thinking of starting a blog for it giving reviews of shops, cafes and restaurants. Other than that, I have been thinking about starting a sunglasses and accessories brand. Hopefully to start the business once Spring comes.

5. What type of influencer/blogger you would describe yourself as? Any tips for being a successful influencer?

Definitely fashion. I guess just to be real with yourself and your audience! Be confident and believe in you and your work. I haven’t made it big yet but I do hope to be one day!

6. What does the word success means to you?

Success is when you find yourself moving a step forward from yesterday. Be the best version of yourself everyday!

7. What values are most important to you?

Always be grateful, polite and positive. You have to always count your blessings and to be kind to everyone.

8. If you are given a million dollars, what would you do with that money?

I would donate some of that money to the poor, homeless and the sick. Perhaps bring my parents for Haji again. I would start a business of my own, buy a house for my own, travel and buy myself some really nice things.

9. What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought in your life? and why?

Honestly, I don’t even know. Probably using my own pay for my travel money to Barcelona recently and gifted myself a Bimba Y Lola handbag.

10. What is your proudest achievement or accomplishment you have achieved in life?

Not sure, but I guess I’m proud that I managed to sell a few of my customised jackets. I’m pretty proud of myself that I got out from my comfort zone and modelled for Velvet Vanity’s campaign, a shoot for Jelita Magazine and Noorvana clothing. I used to be so insecure with my looks but now I’m learning to embrace it.

11. Can you name some of your favourite bloggers/ influencers and why? Who would you love to collaborate with?

I looooove Maya Jama a presenter from London. She’s just so real and confident and made her way up from the bottom. I aspire to be her. I really like Vivy Yusof and Neelofa as well because they are great business women and influencers. Besides that, I love MiniSwoosh on Instagram because she’s under Nike and Nike is one of my favourite brands. Amy Shehab and Rania Fawaz on instagram as well because they have really good style. The Ace Family because I love their YouTube channel. Lastly, Diana Rikasari because she’s so confident with her style! I would love to collaborate with all of them.

12. What would you say that is the biggest challenge about being a influencer?

The biggest challenge about being an influencer today is probably getting recognised to a bigger audience. Everyone now is an influencer and blogger, you just really need to be different now.

13. If you are given a chance to invent something, what would it be?

I would like to invent a time machine lol! Would love to turn back time and go into the future.

14. If you have a magic ward, what is the one thing you would ask for and why?

I would ask for no hate to exist just to make this world a better place.

15. What advice would you give to other aspiring influencers? any general advice to those have big dreams?

Just Do It – Nike. That’s really just it.
