Shahera is 21 years old this year and she is currently pursuing Degree in Professional Communication. She would describe herself as a fashion enthusiast who loves dressing up peculiarly as her style is quirky, bold and colourful. Music is also her passion; she plays the ukulele and started writing songs last year after going through a bad break up. Once in awhile, she performs gigs for Open Mic Malaysia. She is into filmmaking too, and hope in the future she will be able to explore more about filmmaking.

1. Tell us about yourself

Hello, my name is Shahera, my family and friends would call me Eira. I’m 21 years old this year and currently doing my Degree in Professional Communication. I would say I’m a fashion enthusiast, I love dressing up peculiarly. My style is quirky, bold and colourful. Music is also my passion; I play the ukulele and started writing songs last year after going through a bad break up. Once in awhile, I perform gigs for Open Mic Malaysia. I’m into filmmaking too, I hope in the future I would get to explore more about filmmaking.

2. What is your childhood dream? Did you make it happen?

When I was a child, my favourite Disney sitcom is Hannah Montana and I’ve always wanted to be just like Hannah Montana. The reason why I wanted to be Hannah is because she can be famous yet still have a normal life. For me, it’s tough to have the best of both worlds. I know it may sound weird but I’ve always imagine myself as Hannah, oh and I love Miley Cyrus too. Did I make it happen? I think I did. Well, I’m not a famous pop-star but I feel like I’m living in the best of both worlds. Besides being a full-time student, I also manage to expose myself in the field that I’m passionate about such as music, fashion and films. It’s not easy being a full-time student while trying to enjoy doing the things that I love.

3. Describe how you first get into being a social media influencer/blogger? Is being a social media influencer/ blogger your full time job?

To be honest, I wouldn’t label myself as an influencer but I think ever since I’ve gotten the opportunity to feature in Monki New Year’s Collection in 2016, I began to expose more into being a social media influencer. I received a lot of attention from people and positive comments about my style and appearance which I’m so overwhelmed. After that, I started to work with a restaurant called Wok It; they hired me to be their ambassador. I guess, that’s how it all started.

4. What do you do as passion?

Besides fashion, I have a very strong passion in filmmaking and music! For now, I do enjoy writing my own music and perform at open mics. But I hope in the future, I’ll get to learn and explore more about filmmaking.

5. What type of influencer/blogger you would describe yourself as?

A mix of fashion and lifestyle, I guess more into Fashion. I love dressing up and constantly explore new style.

6. What does the word success means to you?

To me success is when you achieve your lifetime goal. It also means when you achieve something that makes you happy instead of doing it for the sake of it.

7. What values are most important to you?

The most important value to me is humility and then it comes with kindness and confidence.

8. If you are given a million dollars, what would you do with that money?

First thing first, I would spend it on my clothes and then travel the world and buy some production equipment for filmmaking. Probably, I would donate some to the charity.

9. What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought in your life? And why?

I feel like my experiences that I’ve achieved is the most expensive thing.

10. What is your proudest achievement or accomplishment you have achieved in life?

My proudest achievement is when I’ve got chosen to be in Monki New Year’s Party collection in 2016. It was a dream came true. I received an email saying that I’m one of the winners for Monki Style Casting. I got an opportunity to fly to Stockholm, Sweden and got feature in their New Year’s Party collection campaign. It was surreal because I’ve always loved Monki and most of my outfits are from Monki. One of the reasons why I love Monki, it’s because Monki inspires me to be myself and that brand itself reflects who I am. The brand also breaks the social stereotypes about female models; it also gives freedom for female with different body types, skin colour, and hair to be a part of their brand. I had a great experience working with the Monki crew and they were really supportive. After the campaign was released on the November 2016, I’ve received so many positive feedbacks from people and I was overwhelmed by it. Ever since then, I began to feel more comfortable being myself and continue to express myself through clothes and music. People told me that they really feel inspired to be themselves after they saw the photos. I feel so happy when I received those comments. Before this, I’ve always felt insecure and feel scared to be judged by others. Sometimes I feel like I have to be someone else to please people. I came to realization where it is okay to be ourselves because the right people will appreciate you no matter what.

11. Can you name some of your favourite bloggers/ influencers and why? Who would you love to collaborate with?

I admire Gia Coppola ever since I was 17. Gia Coppola is an American filmmaker and screenwriter; her latest film is called Palo Alto. I was truly inspired after I watched the movie and I began to fell in love with the fashion film that she did for Gucci. Her work is amazing and very unique. I would love to collaborate with Gia and learn more about filmmaking.

12. What would you say that is the biggest challenge about being an influencer?

One of the biggest challenges is when I have to constantly create content for the online platform. Sometimes, I feel like I needed a break or probably stop what I’m doing because I feel exhausted. Social media can be really unhealthy at times.

13. If you are given a chance to invent something, what would it be?

Time machine! I would love to travel back in time especially in the 80s; I want to see Michael Jackson perform live.

14. If you have a magic ward, what is the one thing you would ask for and why?

Constantly have money so that I wouldn’t have to worry much about my financial issue. Haha!

15. What advice would you give to other aspiring influencers? any general advice to those have big dreams?

Just be yourself and most importantly be humble and kind. Don’t get too caught up in creating content and we tend to lose our identity because of this. So, remember to always stay true to who you are. Lastly, hold on to your dreams. Some people might say it’s crazy and impossible to achieve, but keep on going and never give up!
